New Pacific Airlines has officially ceased operations, according to internal communications obtained and published by View From the Wing. The publication shared an email sent to employees announcing that the carrier — previously known as Northern Pacific Airways — has shut down.
Northern Pacific launched with used Boeing 757s, most sourced from American Airlines, and initially outlined plans to connect the mainland United States and Asia through Anchorage. That strategy was ultimately derailed by restrictions preventing U.S. airlines from overflying Russian airspace.
The company later rebranded as New Pacific and explored a variety of alternative plans, including U.S.–Mexico service and a proposed base in Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands. Before suspending scheduled operations in April 2024, the airline briefly offered short-haul domestic flights, then shifted to sports and corporate charter flying with a reduced 757 fleet configured with 78 business-class seats.
Ravn Alaska — operated under the same certificate — shut down on Aug. 5 following its final Valdez-to-Anchorage flight.
